Werner Huck – Founder CEO

Werner Huck is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Clinical Research (ACR), Utah and Idaho. His vision of developing quality community-based research centers committed to enhancing quality of life is represented in ACR’s contributions. He has led ACR’s successful contributions to the development of more than 200 compounds in over 25 years and has conducted over 850 clinical trials. Mr. Huck has expertise in outpatient anti-infective development with emphasis on community-acquired pneumonia and sinusitis. He has over 30 years experience and has authored numerous publications in medical journals. Mr. Huck participates in medical writing and also consults on protocol development. He is a graduate of the University of Utah, degreed and board certified in clinical microbiology. He is an active member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and the Association of Clinical Research Practitioners (ACRP).

Scott Tornblom – President/CFO

Scott A. Tornblom, CPA, is an experienced member of the management team with over 15 years working with closely held companies in all aspects of merger and acquisition, operations, finance, and information reporting.

Judith Kirstein, MD – Medical Director, ACR-Utah

Dr. Judith Kirstein grew up in Los Angeles, California, and since July 1981, she has been practicing medicine in West Jordan, Utah. Dr. Kirstein founded Jordan Valley Family Health in 1984, now one of the largest independent Family Practices in the Salt Lake Valley. She began her research career with ACR in 1992. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice, and a member of the Utah Medical Association, the Salt Lake County Medical Society and the AMA. Dr. Kirstein is board certified in family practice and is also associated with the clinical faculty of the University Of Utah College Of Medicine. Dr. Kirstein attended medical school at UCLA, where she holds a Masters degree in nursing, as well as a Doctor of Medicine degree.

Jeremy Rigby, MBA - Executive Director

Jeremy joins ACR from ICON Clinical Research where he was most recently a Lead CRA, managing CRA teams on various clinical trial projects. During his career, Jeremy has worked at both small pharmaceutical and global CRO companies. His experience includes managing clinical trial projects, assembly and submission of New Drug Applications, study protocol development, study site selection and monitoring, managing clinical investigator site audit projects, negotiating study budgets and contracts, and managing CRA teams.

Jeremy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.

Susan Thompson, LPN, CCRC, Director of Operations, ACR-Utah

Susan was born and raised in NJ where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her family was later transferred to Greenville SC where she worked as a school nurse. Around 1990 she joined a Family Practice that participated in Clinical Research which is where she first developed her passion for research. After working about 9 years as a staff nurse and helping out in the research side she decided to join a research company called Hilltop Research which was later changed to Radiant Research where she worked as a coordinator for several years. Another family transfer brought her to NC, where she joined PMG Research. Susan established and grew a new site for the company and was a site manager of the Salisbury site where she was responsible for daily site operations and personnel management. In 2014 she was transferred to the Winston-Salem location and became a Senior Site Manager and over saw both locations until Dec 2014 when she transferred to Utah where she continues her passion for Research with ACR of Utah.

Tristen Richins, NCMA, BS, MBA - Utah Site Manager

A native to Utah, Tristen has worked in various administrative and human resource positions for over twelve years.  She has four years of experience as the Program Director and Senior Instructor of a medical and health science department at a local college.  In addition to teaching, she oversaw business and curriculum development as well as recruitment.  She also has six years of experience as a nationally certified medical assistant, phlebotomist and lab technician.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Utah in 2001 and completed her MBA in May of 2013 from Stevens-Henager College in Salt Lake City.

She has several professional affiliations and memberships which include the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce Women’s Business Network (WBN).
